Patent No. 5,525,222WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM FOR CONTROL OF THE ZEBRA MUSSELIssued: June 11, 1996Inventor: Harry Gleason and Jeffrey Bond, Romulus, NY Assignee: Zebra Mussel Filter Systems, Inc., Romulus, NY |
An improvement to a water filtration system on a water intake line that prevents the infestation of Zebra Mussels in the water system. The water filtration system filters any water entering the water intake line through a filter having a largest pore size which is small enough to prevent passage of an egg or veliger of Zebra Mussels. To prevent accumulation of Zebra Mussels on the filters and the filtration unit, copper screens surround the filters and the water intake to the filtration system. The filters are also provided with threaded ends to facilitate easy and reliable removal and replacement of the filters when needed.
