Annual Spring Trip
One of the highlights of the troop year is our annual Spring Trip.
During spring break, the troop heads off for about five days. On
previous trips we have done everything from hiking to biking to rafting
to touring!
We've been to Washington, DC many times. In the past we have toured
the Air and Space Museum, the National Geographic Society Museum, Arlington
National Cemetary, the Capitol, and the Library of Congress. And of course,
we always see the Lincoln, Jefferson and Vietnam memorials.
Other times we have visited Fort Stanwix, Howe Caverns, the Corning Museum
of Glass, the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cornell, and
other attractions in Upstate New York. We have also toured New York City and
Long Island.
When we went to Pensylvania we stopped in Philadelphia to see Ben Franklin's
house, Independence Hall, and the Franklin Institute. While in Pensylvania we
visited the Stroudsburg Steam Railroad, Gettysburg, Penn's Cave and more.
In terms of hikes we've taken a 55 mile hike on the historic Chesapeake and
Ohio Canal towpath, 50 milers on the Shenandoah trail, and hikes on the Appalachian
Trail, not to mention shorter hikes on the Finger Lakes. We've taken Bike Hikes,
too -- how about 100 miles around the Finger Lakes or 125 miles down the C&O Canal?
To find out what we're doing this year, take a look at our
schedule.
